International Grants & Fellowships

As the American Society of Microbiology Country Liaison for the Philippines, Dr RAYMUNDO invites us to the many ASM-based opportunities. Below is a summary of such opportunities. Open the ASM sites for details.

Hi PSM Colleagues,

I have been appointed as American Society of Microbiology Country Liaison for the Philippines. I would like to call your attention to the many ASM-based opportunities that we can tap for microbiology advancement in our institutions. Below is a summary of such opportunities. You can open this ASM website for details:

http://www.asm.org/international/index.asp?bid=2743

I have sent some of my graduate students to laboratories of my collaborators using the ASM Fellowship program.  The grant was only for three months but was enough for them to learn new techniques that proved useful upon their return. The more important consequence was the opportunity to have been exposed to a new research environment.

Let us make the most of these opportunities.   Also  take note of the resources that can be tapped for our teaching functions.

Regards to all,

ASUNCION K. RAYMUNDO, PhD
Professor and Dean, CAS, UPLB
Fellow, Philippine Academy of Microbiology

UNESCO-ASM Visiting Resource Person Program

Members of the ASM who will be visiting developing nations on academic or other business can arrange to spend a day with colleagues at a University or Research Institute in a major city. UNESCO has provided ASM with funds to cover the cost of the extra day stay in that nation. The ASM member is expected to present a seminar to faculty and students in the institution and to spend the rest of the visit as a resource person discussing novel ideas for scientific research, curriculum development and international co-operation with local faculty and students.  Please check the following webpage for a list of ASM members that might be visiting your area:
