Microbes Unlimited PSM For Health and Wellness
Health is wealth! Staying fit and healthy has been one of life's top priorities for many of us. Placing premium on health ushered in new discoveries and products to achieve such goal. Most of these products are derived either from microbial cells or microbial processes. Such development led to a paradigm shift on our view on microbes, from being agents of disease causation to agents of disease prevention. Indeed, microbes have emerged as our new partners in attaining human health and wellness. This symposium in cooperation with the De La Salle University.
PSM BICOL
Bicol region is composed of 6 provinces, namely, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon. There are many persons and organizations in Bicol engaged in and interested in advancing the objectives of the PSM hence are eligible for membership but are not given a chance to become member or participate in the activities of the PSM. This was evident during the Cluster II Symposium held in Ateneo de Naga University last February 3, 2007, where more than 220 teachers, health and other microbiology-related professionals, and students attended the said symposium. Such overwhelming attendance is an indication of the interest of the Bicolanos to microbiology. At present, there are 36 old Bicolano members, but during the Cluster II symposium, 56 more were added as new members.

Dr. Wilfredo L. Barraquio (1947-2006)
It only works when it’s open. This is only one among the many things I’ve learned under Dr. Wilfredo L. Barraquio, about the mind and the understanding of microbiology. His unexpected passing on January 2, 2006 has brought sadness to his family, friends, colleagues & students. At the same time, it has also brought hope and inspiration to many for the future of microbiology in the country.
